Hubbell Realty Company to Break Ground on New Conservation Development Community in Waukee
WAUKEE, Iowa (June 22, 2005) – Hubbell Realty Company is scheduled to break ground on Central Iowa’s newest type of housing development on Tuesday, June 28 at Glynn Village in Waukee. Hubbell Realty Company is the first to introduce the Conservation Community design concept in central Iowa, with other communities in Grimes and Carlisle. These unique Conservation Communities will be designed to incorporate restored native prairie communities and natural storm water management systems. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held in conjunction with the Waukee Chamber of Commerce at 4:30 p.m. located at the end of Warrior Lane and University Avenue.
Forty-eight percent of this development is proposed to remain unhindered and consist of open prairie as public space. In addition, areas disturbed during construction will be landscaped and restored back to native plant areas. These native grasses and wild flowers will enhance natural infiltration of runoff created by the impervious surfaces throughout the site. Other on-site runoff reduction measures will include grassy swales, playfields and narrower streets.
By designing new communities with land conservation as the number one priority, homebuyers receive unprecedented lifestyle advantages such as open public parklands, walking/biking trails, play areas and contiguous habitat for birds, butterflies and other wildlife.
